Easy to use
Works perfectly. Got my free MMSI from US Power squadron. Did an automated test DSC call to USCG and it worked. Picks up GPS signal for position without the need for the external antenna or input.I flush mounted it, and it would be nice if there was a bracket kit for that, but there isn’t. Silicone it and it works fine and seems to stay put.

Great little unit
Installed in my truck. Works great! Crystal clear reception. Not a bad little unit for the money. I’ve paid twice as much and didn’t work as well as this one. It looks nice too!

Was easy to install works great after you get a mmsi number to activate it . Was easy to get threw BoatU.S. for a small one time fee. they did not tell you about.

Easy to set up
Unit has gps built into it, unlike some other brands, you will pay extra to add to radios not equipped with it.Easy to get the registration number to enter at orginal boot up. Be sure you get your coast guard number for it.You Hope you never need it, but nice to have if a boating emergency occurs.Do your research prior to getting number, some charge fee for it, others don’t.Overall, looks like a good unit for the priceline.

A lot more than expected
a lot more packeted into a small package. good sensitivity. GPS is fast. DSC works well. the instruction leaves a good amount to be desired (written by non native English speakers). if you have a basic knowledge of electronics, it is very straightforward. as with all radios – use a good antenna.I like that the options, setting and menus give you plenty to play with, if you choose to dig into them.Overall this radio is well worth the price – others with the same features are $300+be sure to have your MMSI # ready when you first power it one. if you don’t have an MMSI #, get one -From Boatus.com:Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI) is a unique 9 digit number that is assigned to a (Digital Selective Calling) DSC radio or an AIS unit. Similar to a cell phone number, your MMSI number is your unique calling number for DSC radios or an AIS unit. The information provided when obtaining an MMSI number is transferred into the U.S. Coast Guard’s national distress database for use in emergency situations.BoatUS has been authorized by both the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the U.S. Coast Guard to assign MMSI numbers to vessels with DSC capable radios that are not required by law to carry a radio, and do not make international voyages or communications. BoatUS is responsible for relaying the MMSI registration information to the U.S. Coast Guard for search and rescue purposes.MMSI numbers are free for BoatUS Members or $25 for non-Members.
