Mount it upside down
All the reviews that say the spring is too weak to hold the flap open are 100% correct. I mounted it upside down to alleviate that problem.

Black is good
Swapped my broken white cover for this one. The black looks great and I like the clasp better than my old one as well. Fingers crossed it last longer than the original.

Weak Cover Spring.
Overall it’s a nice marine cover I used it for an Alpine stereo I’m installing in my hot tub. Like another review states it has a weak spring that holds the Is cover open. The Spring is so weak it will not hold the cover all the way up so to fully access your radio you have to hold the cover up by hand.

Not smooth closing
The cover looks good. I used it on batwing fairing to cover audio receiver. The one think I didn’t like is, when you closing cover it doesnt snaps into place smooth. This make me feels that this is regular China product.

Very cheaply made
It seems to be made of a good plastic but the waterproof seal is already coming off as soon as I pulled it out of the box. I’m probably not going to trust it on my boat though.

Quality as Expected for the Money – Poor
You get what you pay for (cheap). It did work in my Premier 225 Legend Pontoon boat so the quality matched well. The boats OEM receiver died and it was some hack size (Premier cut the opening way too big). The DIN1 Marine Kenwood I bought fell through the cutout. This item in conjunction with a Millenia Mil Plate3 mount plate filled up the cutout so i could mount the receiver. I had to drill a couple of holes but that was ok. It does protrude out about an extra ~3/4″ from the dash and it was really difficult to insert the new receiver into it/dash while simultaneously plugging the up the receiver but that was the Premiers’ wiring harness being too short (why they could not have allowed a 6″ service loop baffles me). The spring on the door must have unwound or unclipped as it doesn’t really work…. Also I have to carefully press really (I mean really hard) hard to get the door to “lock” other wise it looks nice but not sure how long it will last.

Meh
Button to open is on the bottom and is very difficult to reach. I put this on my lund pro V to replace the original. This also doesn’t keep itself open, it always in the way. Will it cover your radio?…… yes. Will you love it? …… Nope

Weak springs
Door springs are extremely weak. They barely open the door. I expected the door to swing open in upward position to expose the radio when opened but not even close. Mounts easy and great fit on my stereo. Gaskets dont seal very tight. Will see if it does keep out rain as soon as it rains on me.

Door will not stay open
The springs are not strong enough to hold the door open. It would have to be installed upside down to stay fully open

Nice product
Its a great product, but if you are replacing an older style weather proof radio cover. This one does not take up the same footprint. So you will have to take that into consideration.

Door does not stay open, spring is weak.
Was going to install this on my boat with a new stereo. Cover arrived fast as usual. Cover looks nice and included everything needed to install. Unfortunately, the door does not stay open all the way. It actually only opens a little on its own. It appears the spring that is designed to keep the door open is not strong enough to hold it open. The cover appears to be new so this seems to be a design flaw. The issue is, it takes two hands to operate the radio which is not optimal especially if I’m under way. It would work in a pinch and I could’ve flipped the door to open down but that was not possible where I was installing it. I’d prefer something that would stay open.

Great Cover
We purchased this to install on a box to cover our new stereo we placed in a 2017 Odes Dominator UTV. We wanted the feature of the water resistant, dirt resistant cover to keep the stereo clean and safe. This was most definitely worth the money! It was a bit larger than we had expected however this came in handy in the long run of installation and further use. We are able to put the remote and a USB/MP3 player inside the cover with the stereo for safety. The stereo remote works through the smoked glass. Very happy with this purchase. Would definitely recommend!

Great and cheap cover
After removing a still working non marine cassette tape receiver from our newly purchased 79’ skipjack 24, all it had was this cover to protect it all those years. It was a no brainer to buy this same cover to protect the new bluetoothed receiver and I went with a non marine deck. Should be good for years based on the previous 20 year old tape deck. This protected it perfectly all those years.

Works for at least some marine VHF and mic too!!
Read the reviews on this and related covers but couldn’t tell if it would fit a vhf radio. Good news is it works at least on old Standard units if you trim the outer part of the gray face gasket top and bottom and you can tuck the mike and cable in the unfilled side space and close the cover. See pics. The newer vhf units with location feature may be wider (taller) and if so arn’t going to fit so beware.

Cover Does Not Stay Open; Tried 2 of Them
The item arrived on time. It seems to be well constructed with heavy plastic.I did not have a chance to install it for the following reason: As some others have noted, the cover does not stay open more than about 30%. The springs seem too weak.I had a chat with a representative at Pyle (the company whose name is on the product, but as suspected, it is made in China) to see if there was a way to adjust the tension on the springs, and he said there is not. I am returning it and have requested a replacement. If the replacement works well, I’ll revise this review. If the replacement has the same issue, I’ll purchase a different one.UPDATED REVIEW:I received the replacement today, and it arrived promptly and ahead of schedule. The cover doesn’t stay open at all – not even 1 mm. I am returning it for a refund. One reviewer stated that he just installed his upside down so that gravity holds it open. I doubt that it would be waterproof in that orientation. I changed my rating from 2 stars to 1.

Its water resistant, that’s really about all though
As everyone else complains about, this thing does not stay open on its own! I’ve had this type of cover on my other boats, none of them ever had this issue. It is just a royal pain to get to the stereo, you have to hold the door open with one hand and control with the other. Soon you’ll get good enough to pop door open and control it with just hand, but its still just dumb. At least it keeps the water away from the stereo, that it does well.I’ve looked, but just can’t seem to find a way to modify the spring inside to keep it open. If I have to take it out to mod it, I’m just gonna replace it with a better brand completely and send this junk off to Goodwill!!!My advice? Find a different brand to install, and send it back if it can’t stay open on its own before you take the time to install it on your boat.

Good cover but weak spring.
Very nice cover. No leaks. Only issue is the spring that should hold door open to access radio just doesn’t. You have to hold it open so it’s a 2 handed operation to use radio. Still a good cover.

Latch Closure Problems
Had to remove extra material from the molding process which prevented the cover from latching closed. Once I figured that out it closes with firm pressure. The rubber seal doesn’t compress like a epdm foam rubber. Would recommend manufacturer to review.

Does it’s job.
The old stereo cover on my boat broke off and would no longer stay in place while in-tow, so I found this great little cover to replace it. The install was pretty simple because the replacement was exactly the same size as the original. As I am working to fix a lot of minor issues, I am finding that many boat accessories are a universal size, which is great. Of course, before you just go ahead and order parts you should make sure they fit.

Good Protection
Great fit for the Pyle marine radio, my only dislikes are the cover is not spring loaded so it doesn’t stay open, and it is difficult to close the cover as i have to push down super hard to get it to “click” and close all the way. Seems like it will keep the water out but only time will tell!

Simple but it works
I had one of these on my boat for about 4 years. The hinge is flimsy and cracked pretty quickly but it was still useable. It does a pretty decent job keeping water off your radio even when spraying it with the hose. I did notice a spot where water had partially leaked in through a screw hole but not enough to cause damage. I just recently relocated the radio so I ordered a new cover, hopefully the mew one works for me just as well as the last. I don’t think I would recommend this for any sort of high dollar head unit but for my application it was fine

Better than expected
I never realized what I was missing until I found this nice shield. Space next to the steering wheel was an issue for my boat, so I installed it upside down to allow it to partially open and not get in the way of my steering wheel. I rarely open it because most boat radios comes with a remote and stream from your phone anyway. When I do listen to the radio or turn up the volume I just use the remote. I really like the rubber gasket that goes all the way around the unit, is outside the screw holes to prevent seepage, and forms a nice tight seal. The cover is slightly see through so I can easily read the stereo text and see the time/station/settings.

Terrible design, springs are to weak to actually open the cover
When mounted, it will always be flopping down and you will need to hold it open to get to the radio etc. Don’t buy it, spend a couple extra bucks and go with a better one.

It Works!
The Pyle water resistant stereo cover works. As others mentioned the spring isnt strong enough to mount with door opening up. So just mount with door swinging down, I like this installation better as its easy to see and control radio.I just rained after installing and I washed the boat down the next day and no water entered the housing.

Definetly Keeps The Water Out!
Having never mounted a radio in a boat before, I spent time checking everything out and how it fit. These covers are very large so make sure you have enough room to mount it. The cover MUST sit flat on the mounting surface or it will not be waterproof. The spring on the front cover of the unit I received wasn’t strong enough to hold the cover all the way up so I mounted it upside down. The cover now opens at the top and the cover drops down, below the radio, out of the way. I like this setup much better. I can use the radio without reaching under the cover. The cover looks great and mounted upside down, works great. My radio has USB outlet and the cover closes over the radio with a USB stick sticking out with no problem.

Radio Cover
I installed this upside down (intentionally) in my Reckless fairing on my Yamaha V Star 1300 motorcycle. It holds up good when riding in the rain, the latch for closing is pretty cheap and you have to push it a couple times to get it to stay closed. It will work until I find something better

Not Spring Loaded To Open!
Good looking water resistant stereo cover that fits as expected. Cover is supposed to be spring loaded to open. It is NOT! You can see the springs through the plastic, but they don’t do anything. Tried to contact PYLE directly with the number that Amazon provided. Customer Service person speaking broken english. Not really a problem, until they hang up on you. Maybe thier phone system sucks, but very frustrating. Ordered a replacement from Amazon, and returning the first one. The second one barely opens when you hit the release. I will install the cover upside down, so gravity will hold it open. Not a good option for use in a marine enviroment, but I want to use our boat, and have already been working this project for over a week, with the dash of my boat torn apart for the new stereo install. Summer in Michigan is nearing the end. Too much wasted time! Look elsewhere for a cover in my opinion.

Install upside down, and your good. Keeps Rain/Dust out, Good Price.
This thing, never in a million years, would ever have the “strength” to hold it self all the way open. And i do not see a way to adjust the spring to allow it to do that.Luckily, i actually wanted installed upside down, due to it being used to cover a flip up screen stereo. So when it opens, the cover is at the bottom. Works just fine like that.It is great for the price, and it served my needs perfectly. I installed it in an aftermarket motorcycle fairing, with a Pioneer flip up screen single din stereo. It is deep enough that the stereo knobs do no hit the cover when closed, and its low profile enough, that it doesnt interfere with the screen coming out and flipping up all the way, and does so with out hitting or getting in the way.I only had it for 4 months before i sold the motorcycle, so i cant comment on its longevity past 4 months. Hinge was without issue as well.
